Auditions

Auditions 2019 – 2020 Season

Our 38th annual production of The Nutcracker will be performed December 13-15, 2019 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.  This spring we look forward to our production of Dorothy and the Emerald City, which will be held on March 21-22, 2020 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Auditions for the company will be held Saturday, August 24th at the Ballet Arts Studio starting at 9:00 for Apprentice Member Auditions and before 11:00 for Performing Member Auditions. There will be a mandatory meeting at 11:00 A.M. for everyone.  There is a $25 non-refundable audition fee due at the time of the audition. This is the only audition date. Everyone is required to be present on this audition day to become a member of the company. (No other audition is scheduled.) Please contact the director as soon as possible if this is a problem. Birth Certificate must be presented at the time of Auditions for new applicants.

The company is structured in three parts, Apprentice Membership, along with Junior Level and Senior Level Performing Membership. Some considerations to accommodate college or high school graduates are available and should be discussed with the Artistic Director.

There will be a brief mandatory meeting of dancers and at least one parent between the auditions at 11:00 A.M.  Dancers are expected to be on time, dressed properly and warmed-up in time for the audition.

Yearly fees for ALL company members are $300 per year. It can be paid all at once or in two payments. Balances must be paid in full by September 21st.  It is the desire of the Board of Directors that no dancer is excluded from participation in the company due to financial constraints. Our Member Care Committee will be happy to hear about any problems you may have with the fee schedule.

As with any non-profit organization, volunteer work is vastly important to the smooth running of the organization.  This is especially true for Ballet Arts, Inc. because we are a volunteer staffed organization. There is a place for each and every one of you and you are needed!  Our parents and Friends of Ballet Arts logged in over 8,000 hours of volunteer time in some years. That is impressive for such a small organization and our parents are to be commended!  Tabitha Atkisson, our Friends and Family coordinator, will be available to answer questions you have regarding the many committees.

The following forms/items are needed on the day of auditions:
  1. Dancer Information
